Health and nutrition is becoming an important part of Queensland curriculum standards.

To help reinforce the existing lesson plans, you can book an in-school visit from one of the experienced Brisbane Markets’ Kids Program team members.  They will deliver the healthy eating message in an interactive presentation for students between Years 2-7 in your classroom.

  • Apples Ain’t Apples is designed for Years 1-4 and ;
  • Crunch Time is for students in Years 5-7.

The free presentations cover content like:

  • How many fruits and vegetables you should be eating every day.
  • Why fruits and vegetables are so good for our bodies.
  • Where do fruits and vegetables come from in relation to parts of the plant.
  • How do fruits and vegetables get from the farms to your plate at home.
  • How do you use/cook/eat different types of fruits and vegetables (live examples).
  • Taste testing of unusual vegetables and popular fruits like apples or bananas (dependent on what is available).

Please Note: Limit of one presentation per school per year

As this is a free service offered to the hundreds of primary schools within a one-hour driving distance of the Markets, we need to enforce a limit of one presentation per school per year. With regards to group sizes, due to the highly interactive nature of our presentations, there is a limit of 60 students.

Firstly you need to check if you are a registered school and are eligible to receive a Brisbane Markets’ Kids Program school visit.
