Juices of generosity flow through to charities
Redkite and Life Education Queensland received a fruitful donation recently from Oasis Juice Bar owner George Trattos and his customers who raised $12,491 for the charities as part of Brisbane Markets’ mango auction
Mr Trattos whose juice bar is located in Queen Street, said he had taken part in the mango auction in previous years but this time wanted to do something a little different.
“This is the first year we have donated separately from my business to the mango auction,” he said.
“The auction presents a fantastic way to raise money for some really worthy causes but I would like to see more individual involvement from shopkeepers and wholesalers.
“I want to focus on raising more money for the charities and I think individual donations are a great way to achieve this.”
The hardworking juice bar owner is no stranger to charity.
“When my wife and I arrived in Australia as Cypriot refugees we literally had nothing. We went to the Red Cross and they gave us blankets and food. This is now my chance to give something back after the help we received. I have come from nothing and now run a successful business and I want to use this to help these worthy causes.”
Myer Centre Car Park also extended a helping hand by running an exclusive Oasis Juice Bar customer offer that is still running.
“When customers donate $2 to the charities at Oasis Juice Bar they can park at Myer Centre for only $7 all day on weekends and $7 after 1.30pm on weekdays on proof of an Oasis Juice Bar stamped ticket.”
The Oasis Juice Bar is continuing to collect donations for Life Education Queensland – the largest non-government provider of drug and health education in Australia – and Redkite – an organisation that provides emotional and financial support to children and families affected by cancer.
