Family business lands a big win
With over 70 years experience in the fruit and veg game, it is a case of the family that works together, wins together. Family business Betros Bros’ on Russell Street has just been announced as the Brisbane Produce Market’s Retailer of the Month for November.
Brothers Kerry, Bevan, Peter and Murray Betros manage the three retail stores, two in Toowoomba and one in Dalby, aided by about 170 staff members.
“All our employees are given a proper induction into the world of produce. On what the store is selling, when it is in season and how customers can best handle and store their choices. We also have strong middle management in place to assist in offering a strong customer service experience,” said Mr Peter Betros.
Peter’s role includes that of ‘buyer’ and he can be found at the Brisbane Produce Market from six in the morning, five days a week sourcing the best produce at the most competitive prices for his customers.
The Russell Street store also runs an extensive promotions calendar - every year 750,000 customer entries are collected in an annual car giveaway. This year’s Christmas competition has started with a number of great prizes like TV’s, holidays and much more, drawn in the week leading up to Christmas day.
“We know we are competing with all the city stores in the Brisbane
Produce Market retail awards, so we must be doing something right. It
is gratifying to see all our team’s hard work paying off,” said Mr
Betros.
