PMA conference provides updates
A substantial cross-section of the leading businesses and representative organisations from within the fresh produce industry met in Sydney last week at the Produce Marketing Association's (PMA) "Fresh Connections" conference.
Over 250 attendees from the likes of Australia Citrus Growers Inc, Avocadoes Australia, Horticulture Australia Limited, various State Departments of Agriculture and Woolworths, as well as numerous leading growers, independent retailers and wholesalers took the opportunity to network and discuss industry issues.
Speaker topics at the conference included an update on the biggest trends impacting the global fresh produce industry, emerging consumer trends in Australia and New Zealand, the latest packaging innovations and marketing of products.
While having its base in the USA, the PMA is a trade association that is increasingly servicing a global membership base.
It retains a strong focus on serving all sectors of the produce and floral supply chains in areas such as consumer and industry research, education and networking opportunities and information on industry trends.
The PMA is working to build its presence in Australia and New Zealand and has established an advisory council to make recommendations to assist in the development of services for members of the organisation.
Horticulture Australia Limited partnered with the PMA in conducting this year's conference. With the excellent representation achieved this year, organizers are optimistic that the 2009 conference will be even bigger and a definite 'must attend' event for the fresh produce industry in both Australia and New Zealand.
Anyone wanting further information regarding membership of the PMA should contact the organisation’s Australia representative John Baker on (02) 9744-6366 or email:
