The Brisbane Markets QKFN program is a proud supporter of the following children's charities:

Life Education Queensland

Life Education Queensland (LEQ) focuses on educating young people about the importance of healthy lifestyles, and has mobile educational vans that visit schools throughout the state.

The QKFN program supports Life Education Queensland (LEQ) through providing materials for their educational vans, as a beneficiary of the annual Mango Auction and though other financial contributions.

Life Education Queensland:

  • provides positive programs that develop the social skills and knowledge necessary for effective decision-making, communication, negotiation, peer resistance and refusal in drug-related situations.
  • encourages respect for the uniqueness of each individual, and teaches the skills to assert confidently that individuality, especially in social settings with friends.
  • aims, in partnership with schools and the community, to help reduce tobacco use and illegal drug use among young people; encourage them to avoid or delay alcohol use; and reduce the harms associated with any drug use.
  • programs are based on the latest research, and provide high quality drug education featuring role-play; social skills training; correction of common myths; and varied, fast-moving and interactive activities facilitated by excellent educators assisted by the latest multi-media technology.

Life Education Australia believes prevention is better than cure!

Royal Children's Hospital Foundation fit4fun program

fit4fun is a motivational fundraising program run by the Royal Children's Hospital Foundation. It actively promotes healthy lifestyles - addressing the growing concern surrounding children's health, nutrition and fitness.

Held during a week of your choice in May, fit4fun is designed for primary schools, families and other groups, including Outside School Hours Care centres.

fit4fun involves children setting themselves healthy eating goals and healthy activity goals and then asking family and friends to sponsor them to achieve these goals, just like a walk-a-thon or read-a-thon.

Keep Australia Beautiful Queensland's Green and Healthy Schools program

Keep Australia Beautiful Queensland (KABQ) is the state's longest standing community based organisation. Their programs, competitions and campaigns motivate people to improve their local environment.

The KABQ Green & Healthy Schools program encourages schools to develop a green and healthy philosophy and to tackle a range of issues at the school level, including environmental protection, litter prevention, resource management, youth initiatives, health, nutrition and fitness, and community partnerships and action.

The program gives students, teachers, parents and friends the chance to take part in a range of initiatives that develop the educational, personal and social benefits that come from caring for self, the community and the environment.

Brisbane Produce Market sponsors the Green and Healthy Schools program as the sponsor of the Brisbane Produce Market Health & Nutrition Award.

Redkite

Redkite (formerly known as Malcolm Sargent Cancer Fund for Children) is an Australian charity that supports children and their families through cancer.

Over 1000 children and young Australians are diagnosed with cancer or leukaemia each year. Thanks to advancements in medical and therapeutic techniques around 80% will be cured, but at a price. Rigorous treatment regimes and the long, unpredictable road to recovery put enormous pressure on both children and their families.

Redkite works to ease this pressure and alleviate suffering by supporting children and their families through cancer by providing emotional guidance, financial assistance and educational services throughout the difficult treatment period and beyond.

The QKFN program supports Redkite as a beneficiary of the annual Mango Auction.

To find out more about Redkite, click here to visit the Redkite website.
