Export Forum

Brisbane Markets Ltd (BML) has established an exporters' forum to bring together market-based exporters to discuss issues of common interest.
The forum considers export-related issues, and provides feedback and recommendations to BML. Where appropriate, the forum issues statements to government and industry on export-related matters and the development of Brisbane Markets as an export hub.

BML provides the secretariat for the forum and ensures links are maintained with government on export-related matters. Forum topics include such issues as access to de-infestation facilities, new export markets, identifying State and Federal Government assistance packages, and accessing the skills and expertise available within Government.

The forum meets every 2-3 months and is chaired by BML director and former Queensland Premier The Hon Mike Ahern who has previous involvement with trade and exports. Mr Ahern currently has a role with the Department of State Development as a Queensland Government appointee promoting trade, particularly in Africa, the Middle East and India. He is also a member of the Food and Fibre Science and Innovation Council.
