 The charming village suburb of Samford can now boast one of Brisbane’s best greengrocers with local store Samford Village Greens announced as the Brisbane Produce Market’s Retailer of the Month for September. John Stamatiou owns and operates the fruit and veg store in the Samford Central complex off Main Street and has achieved multiple awards as Retailer of the Month and nominations for Retailer of the Year.

THE floods may have devastated the Queensland community in January but it didn’t stop the generosity flowing at the Brisbane Markets Mango Auction today with the season’s first symbolic tray of mangoes selling for $30,000, all in the name of charity. Carlo Lorenti from Clayfield Markets Fresh was crowned 2011 ‘Mango King’ after outbidding fellow fresh produce retailers and wholesalers.
The Brisbane Markets host over 1,000 children in free cooking classes at the Ekka each year and this year 'LC' aka Little Chef was a feature at the show with 'I'm a Little Chef' cookbooks and t-shirts given away as prizes each session.
The August winner of the Brisbane Produce Market Retailer of the Month award are one of the oldest buying brands in the Market and their win could not have come at a better time.
Fruit & Veg 4 U in Arundel Plaza on Napper Road has been awarded the first Brisbane Produce Market Retailer of the Month for the year as the July winner. The monthly accolade, from the Brisbane Produce Market, recognises excellence in fruit and vegetable retailing.
